Have a Very Merry Christmas!
Because we were planning a trip to Michigan the second week in December, Al and I got our Christmas decorations and tree up early. He helped me get the Christmas cards mailed out in record speed; and I began planning what gifts to take in the suitcases. It seemed like Christmas was right around the corner, so wishing people a “Merry Christmas” was easy.
It was surprising how many people responded with “Oh, you’re a little early aren’t you?” Some said “thanks” and others just ignored it. Maybe they thought it was more appropriate to say, "Happy Holidays." However that greeting seemed to miss the whole point of our celebration and to diminish the joy I was feeling.
To quote the usher at church today: “Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas and I’ll say it again, Merry Christmas!" Have a great one, dear friends and....Happy Birthday, Jesus!
“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Mat. 1: 21
