Up, Over and Out!
A tiny sparrow had flown into the garden and was busily pecking in the dirt, until I startled her. Then she went into a panic mode, trying to squeeze through the chicken wire tacked to the bottom of the garden fence. She kept trying to put her head through the small openings to no avail, getting more and more distraught.
Assuming she was injured, I opened the gate and stood back, hoping she might see it and hop through. However, she stayed in the same corner, running a short distance along the fence and then back, trying to find a way of escape. I decided to go ahead with my original plan to water the vegetables growing in their raised beds, all the while watching her out of the corner of my eye.
Suddenly, she gave a flutter of her wings…enough to lift her to a rung of a tomato stake which was propped up in that same corner. She stayed there only for a moment because she realized the escape route from her "cage," then flew up over the four foot fence and out of the garden where she perched in a nearby grapefruit tree.
Had she forgotten her wings? Apparently so! As Christians, God has given us the gift of faith, wings to carry us up and over obstacles in our paths. Let’s always remember our wings…and use them! "
"Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:30-31 NIV
