Jesus Makes the Evening News!
Did you happen to catch the story making headlines earlier this week about the front office worker in an Atlanta school who was able to convince a would-be shooter to lay down his weapons and surrender? She was interviewed just after the man was arrested and then again several days in a row following the incident.
It was an amazing story which might have had a completely different ending. A stranger barged into the school office with a gun and demanded that someone call 911, saying that he wanted the police to come and get him. He was looking for a shoot-out and was ready to kill anyone: students, staff, policemen...
The woman first prayed, "God save us!" Then she began to calmly talk to him and was able to get him to open up a little bit about why he was so upset. He said that no one loved him. She actually shared how she had recently gone through a personal tragedy, encouraging him not to give up.
Later in the interview she said, "All the while, I was praying in my spirit, just like my pastor taught me." Miraculously, the gunman eventually calmed down, laid down his weapons and surrendered..
"So, how did you pray at the end, after it was all over?" one news commentator asked.
"Well, I said, 'Thank you, Jesus!' "
Yes, thank you, Jesus, for hearing her prayers and for the lives spared that day! I hope we hear about you on the news again soon! In Jesus' precious name, Amen
