A Baby Blanket?

A baby blanket?
This tangled up mess of yarn has the potential of being a beautiful, soft, "rainbow sherbet" baby blanket. However, there is one problem...when I pulled on the loose end of the yarn which was tucked inside the skein, it wouldn't come out. So, I pulled harder, which resulted in all of those knots which you can see in the picture.
Inch by inch, starting with the loose end, the yarn has to be untangled and wound into a ball. You can see how far I've gotten after several hours of work. Untangling is a long, slow process. It's important to keep the yarn loose so that the fibers don't cling together. A long thin knitting needle inserted into the tangle seems to help.
My husband suggested the scissor method! However, the vision of the baby blanket is still before me.
"Oh just throw it away and I'll buy you new yarn," he offered. "No need to waste your time on this."
Stubborn? Determined? Both? Anyhow, I haven't given up on the project yet.
Doesn't this remind you of the way God works in our lives? We tend to get things pretty messed up, not just in our own lives but also in our relationships with others. Unfortunately our tendency is to come to Him for help afterwards, when the problems have become knots and tangles. With great love and patience, He takes care of one knot at a time, all the while envisioning what our lives could be if we would just surrender completely to Him. I'm glad that He doesn't give up on us. Aren't you?

Help us, dear Lord to surrender our lives to you each day, trusting you for help and allowing you the freedom to change us, so that we might be the people you want us to be. Forgive us for making knots and tangles in relationships. May we become more like Jesus, letting His love flow through us to those around us. In His name, Amen.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
